“Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” -Philippians 1:1-2
Finally SPRING is HERE! And our church is experiencing new life both outside and inside. We had an amazing Lenten season with increased worship, Bible study, Love Feast, and Easter sun-rise attendances. People in our community are taking steps in faith, seeking and serving God in the unique ways they are called. Others are digging deep, eager to learn more about God in Christ, the Church of the Brethren, and the way of the Gospel. In the beginning of July, Courtney and I will be attending Church of the Brethren Annual Conference in Columbus, OH, along with our congregation’s delegates Julie Bratton and Mike Miller. The theme this year is “Live as Courageous Disciples,” and will focus on the New Testament book of Philippians, which is actually a letter written by the Apostle Paul to the church in Philippi, a city in modern Greece. Conference Moderator Nancy Sollenberger Heishman has challenged the Church to engage Philippians in-depth as a way of preparing for the gathering, but also to unite Brethren everywhere in studying an essential resource for our faith together.
Some of you may have noticed our congregation’s Facebook page posts verses from Philippians weekly with a short reflection (“Like” New Enterprise Church of the Brethren!). Later in May, I will begin a new worship and sermon series on “Philippians: Continuing the Good Work” to go deeper into the book as well as to learn about how we should reflect Christ Jesus in
our lives.
I invite you all to come, learn, worship, and gather with family and friends this May as we learn to live more like Jesus!
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.” -Philippians 4:23
Grace and peace, Pastor Andy
